The shortlist for the Scottish Export Awards 2018, sponsored by HSBC in association with Scottish Enterprise and Highlands and Islands Enterprise, has officially been announced.
A range of companies from Shetland down to the Scottish borders have made the final shortlist for this year’s Scottish Export Awards 2018 sponsored by HSBC in association with Scottish Enterprise and Highlands and Islands Enterprise.
Judges from HSBC, Scottish Development International, Strathclyde Business School and BQ will now meet towards the end of the month to decide the overall winners of each category and select the overall Scottish Exporter of the Year.
BQ’s commercial director, Bryan Hoare, said: “We’ve seen a significant uplift in both the volume and quality of entries overall this year and been delighted to see so many diverse businesses across Scotland trading internationally.
“This further demonstrates the export potential that exists across the Country and reinforces how important it is to continue to celebrate success and encourage more businesses to internationalise.
“With thanks to the teams at HSBC, Scottish Enterprise, Highlands and Islands Enterprise and all our other sponsors and partners for their support, we know that this event will truly celebrate and inspire global trade by flying the flag for Scottish business.”
First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said: “Through our enterprise agencies and their international arm, Scottish Development International, we are focussed on growing Scotland’s international ambition.
“We recently announced Scotland’s international exports – excluding oil and gas – had grown to £29.8bn in 2016. This success is down to the hard work, determination and commitment from companies across Scotland and it’s right we should celebrate their efforts through events like this.
“I’d like to pass on my congratulations to all of the shortlisted companies and wish them the very best of luck at the ceremony in March.”
Alison McGregor, CEO, HSBC Scotland, said: “We have been connecting the world through trade for 153 years, helping people and businesses thrive.
“We are delighted to sponsor the Scottish Export Awards 2018, which celebrate the achievements of exporters in Scotland from a wide range of sectors.”
The winners will be announced at a black-tie dinner, taking place on 22 March 2018 at the Hilton Hotel in Glasgow.
