Ardmore Craig, an engineering firm that provides custom solutions for large projects has recently secured a European client after entering the overseas market.

The business received a £5,263.50 growth grant from the Tees Valley Business Compass towards their £15,790.50 project. Tees Valley Business Compass is the one-stop-shop for business support and funding in the Tees Valley area.

The Growth Fund supports business growth to create jobs, which can include consultancy, specialist advice, and support for companies across a range of project types. The fund, which is part of the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) can contribute up to 33% towards a project and the average grant is £11,000.

Their project covered two key elements to help them continue their growth journey with the first one covering consultancy to review their current financial practises and systems with a view to integrate them to improve efficiencies and accuracy of financial reporting across the whole business.

The second part of the project was consultancy and support to improve their online presence to showcase their current portfolio of work and to help inform current and potential customers of their values and mission.

They fully expect that once completed the projects will create additional jobs in the coming months, including senior engineering roles and a business development position.

Ben Houchen, Tees Valley Mayor said:

“Ardmore Craig is a fantastic example of a Tees Valley business making its mark, creating jobs and growing what services it offers. I’m delighted it could find assistance through Business Compass, which is doing great things to help companies reach their potential and drive even more value into our region’s economy.”

Andy Stevenson, Founder and CEO at Ardmore Craig said:

“The Tees Valley Business Compass Growth Service has been hugely helpful to Ardmore Craig this year, allowing the business to grow and take on larger premises with increased capacity for further growth in 2019. The scheme was simple to apply to, well organised and all of our points of contact from one to one advisers through to project managers and support personnel have been really helpful in supporting our application. Without the scheme and its support we certainly wouldn’t be where we are today with a larger team of engineers and plans for further growth next year.”

Shak Asghar, Growth Services Manager at the Tees Valley Business Compass said:

“Andy and his team have a great business here in Darlington and it’s fantastic to see it thrive as a result of the support we’ve been able to offer him. It’s great to see a local business like this taking on more staff and moving into new overseas markets. They have plans to grow and expand even more over the next year and we’re looking forward to watching them develop through 2019.”
